Dance

Let them praise His name with dancing.

We believe that God is deserving of and enjoys praise expressed in various creative ways.  Unto Him, Little Chapel Church's Dance team ministry, provides an outlet for the church to express praise to God and declare the truths of His word through dance.  In general, members and leaders of the Dance team ministry should be 15 years of age or older and female; however, for church-wide events and special presentations, team members may include men and children.

Our mission is to advance the kingdom of God by teaching, encouraging, and inspiring others to worship God through dance.

Our goals are to utilize and unify the gifts of individuals with a passion for dance, develop a united body of worshippers sharing our passion for our Savior, Jesus Christ, and employ dance as a means of outreach to our community through participation in community events.

SHARE YOUR STORY

While growing up, I experienced dance through; cheerleading, school dances, aerobic dance, the privacy of my room, and teen dance clubs.  As a young adult I took college classes to learn how to teach dance and even danced in night clubs a few times.  Never once, during my formative years, did I consider that dance could have a place in worshipping God.  But I have since learned, through scripture, that all things were created by God for His pleasure.

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”  Revelation 4:11 KJV

We are also instructed to praise God through dance, music and singing because the Lord takes pleasure in it.

“Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.”  Psalms 149:3-4 NKJV

When I dance for the glory of God, I feel His pleasure.  I suppose these verses explain why this is true.  In light of this, it is my desire and the desire of our Dance team ministry, to provide opportunities inside the church, for children and adults to have an outlet for dance.  Not only because I personally enjoy dance, but because others do as well.  I also believe God desires it.  If there is no place for it in the Church, people will seek it elsewhere as I did, where it is not likely to be for God’s glory.
