Far from rescuing us from this world, Jesus sends us headlong into it. He makes it clear in some of His final moments on earth that He intends for His disciples to strategically and sacrificially engage in changing the world. “Just as you sent me into the world I am sending them into the world … I am not asking for you to take them out of the world, but to protect them from the evil one” (John 17:15,18).

So then, what does it mean to be sent? How are we who are “in the world, but not of the world” to interact and connect with those to whom we’ve been sent? How do the stories of Scripture show us what that interaction looks like? In this series, we’ll explore these questions and rediscover Jesus’ real intention for the purpose and characteristics of our interaction with the sin culture we have been sent to save.
